Dear early career researchers, dear SEA-EU community,

next week, on Thursday, September 26, 2024 you have the opportunity to watch a live stream from an information event about research funding opportunities taking place at Kiel University.

The event is organized by the Postdoc Center of Kiel University, Germany, in cooperation with the European Liaison Office of the German Research Organisations (KoWi) and together with member organizations of KoWi’s supporting association. The programme focuses on funding opportunities for doctoral and postdoctoral research projects and will inform on how to successfully navigate through the German and European funding schemes.

In Germany and Europe numerous opportunities exist for funding research careers starting at an early career stage to experienced postdoctoral researchers. The various schemes provide funding for research projects in Germany and abroad. Although the schemes are different with particular requirements they all aim at promoting the individual careers of early career researchers.

The programme of the information event is tailored to late master students, doctoral and postdoctoral researchers aiming at an academic career. Invited experts from the European Liaison Office of the German Research Organisations (KoWi), the German Research Foundation (DFG), the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation as well as of the non-university research institutions (Helmholtz Association, Leibniz Association and Max Planck Society) as well as the Deutsche Bundesstiftung Umwelt (DBU) will report about funding schemes for temporary positions for principal investigators and about fellowships.

The event will be held in English. Please find the programme attached to this email, the live stream will start at 10:15 am CEST, when the presentations of the experts begin.

Since this is first and foremost a live, in person event with 300 and more expected participants, the audience from abroad can only listen and watch. It will not be possible to ask questions or participate actively.
